Courtney L. Turner is a West Virginia native. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from Marshall University in just three years before receiving a scholarship to attend Thomas M. Cooley Law School, where she completed an accelerated two-year law program.
Courtney began her career as a Public Defender in Danville, Virginia, advocating for clients in serious criminal matters. She then served for nearly thirteen years as a prosecutor in the Roanoke Valley, where she handled complex and sensitive cases involving juveniles, domestic violence, sexual assault, and later, major drug prosecutions. With more than fifteen years of experience in the courtroom, she developed extensive trial experience, sharp litigation skills, and the ability to manage emotionally charged cases with confidence and professionalism.
Today, Courtney focuses her practice on family law and civil litigation, including divorce, child custody, visitation, child support, protective orders, and related matters. Her background in handling high-conflict cases and working closely with families in crisis gives her a unique perspective in family court. She understands the legal, emotional, and practical stakes involved when children and families are at the center of a dispute.
Outside of the courtroom, Courtney enjoys being a mother to her sweet baby girl and she is a proud dog mom to her Belgian Malinois and German Shepherd. She and her husband are active volunteers with Virginia German Shepherd Rescue and have fostered nearly 100 dogs.
